George Harrison's interest in all things 'faster' began at a very early age. In fact, he visited his first ever Motor Cycle Grand Prix in 1954 and his
first ever Formula One Grand Prix at Aintree in Liverpool in 1955 where he was lucky enough to see two of the greatest drivers of the day, Fangio and Graham Hill, battling it out in the race. Graham Hill eventually going on to win.

He past his driving test at the age of 17 and later bought his first car, a blue Ford Anglia. Ringo Starr drove him to collect it and on the way back Ringo ended up damaging his own car whilst swerving to miss an animal that ran across the road in front of him. Unaware of this fact, an excited George continued driving his new purchase home! George kept this car for a while before eventually trading it in for a Jaguar.
So thrilled was George with his purchase of the Jaguar that he drove straight over to see Mike McCartney, a keen photographer even then, and demanded that he take photographs of it.
Despite an initial protest from Mike because it was dark which then prompted George to wittily reply "Bring your flash!" Mike then stated "but it's raining" only to get the reply from George of "Bring your umbrella, then!" Needless to say, Mike gave in to George's urgent request.
Little did Mike McCartney know at that time that George had struck up a deal with the owner of the garage where he had purchased the Jaguar and had in fact been promised a discount if he could get photographs of himself with the car!
It was a good advertising ploy for the garage, and no doubt also a good deal for George.
George later gave this Jaguar car to his elder brother Harry (along with the jacket that George used to wear in his Hamburg days).
George even had a record player inside his
Jaguar, a rare addition to the basic model
in 1964.
